Where to Stay for Brazil vs Morocco — June 13, MetLife Stadium

Brazil vs Morocco kicks off June 13, 6pm ET at MetLife Stadium — the first MetLife match of the tournament and one of the most heavily-traveled fixtures from international supporters. Brazilian fans book NJ inventory aggressively for this date. Plan accordingly.

Why this match books out faster than most

Brazil draws the most international travelers of any national team in a US-hosted tournament. We've watched it play out across two prior World Cups in our inventory — Brazil-fixture dates fill our Newark Ironbound units 8–10 months out (the Portuguese-speaking neighborhood is a magnet for Brazilian travelers) and our Hoboken/JC inventory shortly after.

Morocco's surprise run to the 2022 semifinals built a US fanbase that didn't exist before. Morocco fixtures now book like marquee European teams — particularly the opener. If you're a Morocco supporter looking for lodging, this is the date that's hardest to find inventory for.

We hold our June 13 inventory under the same long-stay-rate framework as the rest of the tournament. Direct booking saves the 14–16% Airbnb fee, and our Newark-side units specifically work for Brazilian-speaking fans wanting walking distance to the Ironbound's restaurants and supporter bars.

Newark vs Hoboken vs JC for this specific match

For Brazilian supporters, Newark wins. The Ironbound's Portuguese and Brazilian restaurant density (Hell's Kitchen, Sol-Mar, Casa Vasca, Hot Tamales) means evenings outside the stadium feel like home in a way that Hoboken or JC can't match. Walking distance from our Downtown Newark suites. Match-day vibe in the Ironbound on June 13 will be one of the most under-told stories of the tournament.

For Moroccan supporters, JC's Newport waterfront has the better mix — closer to Liberty State Park fan festival for the buildup, decent Mediterranean food scene downtown, and the closest North African community concentration in the metro is in JC's Greenville section.

For neutrals or supporters of either team wanting marquee proximity: Hoboken Eden or Noble. 25-minute door-to-gate to MetLife, walking-distance to Banger's Waterside for the post-match unwind. Our default recommendation for fans without a national-team-specific food-and-bar preference.

Match-day logistics from each base

From Newark: NJ Transit to Secaucus (8 min) → MetLife shuttle (15 min including queue). About 30 minutes door-to-gate, the fastest of any of our cities outside East Rutherford. Post-match return is the same 30-minute trip backwards plus the post-match crowd buffer.

From Hoboken: PATH to 33rd Street, transfer to NJ Transit at Penn Station, then to Secaucus and the shuttle. Or simpler: PATH or NJ Transit from Hoboken Terminal to Secaucus directly (12 minutes), then the shuttle. About 35 minutes door-to-gate.

From JC: light rail to Hoboken Terminal (8 min), then NJ Transit to Secaucus, then the shuttle. About 50 minutes door-to-gate. Slower than Newark or Hoboken; our recommendation for JC-based Brazil fans is to drive to Secaucus and skip the light rail leg if you have a designated driver in the group.

What to do before the 6pm kickoff

Gates open at 3pm. Most fans arrive between 3:30 and 4:30. The 90-minute pre-match window inside the stadium is when atmosphere builds, fan group concourse meetups happen, and lines for concessions are shortest.

If you're staying near the Ironbound: lunch at Hell's Kitchen on Wilson Street (Brazilian rotisserie chicken, packed for marquee Brazil fixtures, walk-in viable if you arrive before noon). Coffee at Independent Coffee on Chapel before the train.

If you're staying in Hoboken: brunch at Anthony David's on Bloomfield, then walk down to Hoboken Terminal for the train. Banger's Waterside opens at noon on match days; the post-match crowd starts gathering there from 9pm onward.

If you're at the Liberty State Park fan festival earlier in the day: gates typically open 6 hours before kickoff for major matches, with food vendors and live music programming. The walk from the fan festival to a JC light rail station for the trip to Secaucus is about 12 minutes.
