Where to Stay for France vs Senegal — June 16, MetLife Stadium
France and Senegal supporters travel differently — which our inventory reflects
French fans skew toward longer stays. The typical France-supporter booking we see is 10–14 nights, often paired with NYC tourism and other matches, with families bringing kids. They cluster in Hoboken and JC for the walkable evening scenes plus easy MetLife access.
Senegalese fans (and the broader Senegal-diaspora US fanbase) tend toward shorter stays of 3–5 nights anchored on the match itself. Larger group sizes — supporter-club travel parties of 10–20 people — are common. Combo apartment bookings work well for these groups.
Both groups want quality kitchens and walkable food scenes. Hotels lose this comparison hard for both audiences.
Where to base for the June 16 match
Hoboken Eden (sleeps 10) or Noble (sleeps 12) for groups of 6–12 wanting whole-home setups with multiple bedrooms. Walking distance to Banger's Waterside and the Washington Street supporters' bar strip — particularly relevant for French fans who'll find compatriots across multiple bars on match day.
JC Newport tower units for groups of 4–8 wanting waterfront views and proximity to Liberty State Park fan festival. The 5-minute drive to the fan festival is the under-appreciated angle here — French and Senegalese supporters often spend the morning at the fan festival before the 3pm kickoff, then walk back to JC for post-match dinner.
Harlem SWJ 237 brownstone combo (sleeps up to 36) for the largest supporter-club bookings. We've hosted 25-person Senegalese fan groups there for previous tournaments; the 6-floor combo handles capacity hotels can't.
Match-day timing for a 3pm kickoff
3pm kickoffs are the easiest match-day timing of any tournament window. Stadium gates open at noon. Plan to be at security by 1pm for buffer. Door-to-gate from Hoboken Eden runs about 35 minutes; from JC Newport about 45.
Post-match return: final whistle around 4:50pm, then the Secaucus crowd queue. Plan to be back home by 7pm at the earliest. Restaurants in Hoboken and JC will be busy from 6:30pm onward — book reservations a week ahead for marquee match nights, or order delivery for a 7:30pm meal at home.
If you're traveling with kids on a 3pm kickoff, the post-match crowds are easier to navigate than late-evening returns. Multiple parents we've hosted prefer 3pm fixtures for this reason — kids in bed by 9pm, no late-night transit.
Watch-party options for June 16
Without a stadium ticket, the obvious options are Liberty State Park fan festival (free entry, will be packed for France matches specifically) or Rockefeller Center Fan Village in Manhattan.
For French supporters specifically: the Smithfield Hall on 28th Street has French national-team affiliations and books reservations heavily for France matches. The Football Factory at Legends in Theater District is the second-tier choice.
For Senegalese supporters: there's a smaller but committed Senegalese-supporter scene in Harlem (specifically the West African food blocks around 116th Street and Frederick Douglass) that pulls neighborhood crowds for Senegal matches. Less polished than the Manhattan supporter bars but a meaningfully different atmosphere.
